Limmud is the celebration of Jewish diversity and learning. We welcome people of all cultures, religions and political persuasions. This full-day event begins with brunch and closes with a vibrant and varied concert. Throughout the day, you can attend thought-provoking presentations, engage in lively discussions, participate in creative workshops, play chess with champions, and groove to live music. Sessions will be held in German or in English. The breaks provide opportunities to exchange ideas and enjoy delicious food. Limmud’s ambiance of mutual respect nurtures deeper understanding of the multifaceted Jewish life in Vienna.
Limmud (which means 'learning' in Hebrew) originated in the United Kingdom, where it started over 30 years ago as a small conference. Since then, the movement has grown, flourished and expanded, now embracing more than 90 Limmud communities worldwide.

ABOUT THIS VENUE:
The Vienna landmark Urania is located beside the Donaukanal, linking the 2nd district, also known as "Mazzesinsel" (Matzo Island), and the 1st district, the heart of the city. It houses a public education centre (Volkshochschule) with excellent technical resources and is well-known also for its cinema and theatre. Urania’s versatility as an event venue and its proximity to Jewish Vienna is why we've found it to be the best location for Limmud Festival 2019.
We would like to take the opportunity and thank the team of the
Urania VHS for all their help and support in bringing this event to life!
